A CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow look-alike was on hand to launch Princetown-based Dartmoor Brewery's latest ale last week.

Friggins features a pirate on its new beer clip, so the brewery chose the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor, with its association with pirates, smugglers and highwaymen as the ideal pub to launch the new beer.

The brewery's Mark Shackleton said: 'This beer has a strong pirate image and is totally different to anything we have ever attempted before.

'We have aimed to produce a cult beer that appeals to the drink by being completely to any other beer in the West Country, both by taste and image.'

Friggins, created by Dartmoor Brewery master brewer Mike Lunney, is light golden in colour. It has a crisp fruit finish and light hop aroma.

The beer launch was accompanied by music from the Pirates of St Piran — the launch coincides with the release of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film in May.
