MAY I reply to Sharon Bratchley?s letter printed in your paper last week in regard to the present appearance of the Tavistock Town Council offices in Drake Road.
As chair of the properties committee and also as a resident of the town who was married in those offices, I share her concern over the present view that recently married couples have to suffer when their photographs are taken, but I am pleased to say all this is in hand!
I am sure that Sharon and indeed all users of the offices will be pleased to know that after extensive internal work to make them fit for the 21st century, the contractor is about to make the final touches to the outside; these include new downpipes and complete repainting of the windows. The work will be completed by the end of September.
In terms of the excellent facilities within the offices, it is proposed to have an open day on Thursday September 23 so that all residents can see how they are to visit and work within, especially with the new disabled access to address new legislation that comes in October of this year.
