AS part of the Olympic Year celebrations, Devon Senior Voice are arranging a number of inter-generational sporting events.

There will be Dragon boat races on the River Exe on September 9 and team competitions to include table tennis, skittles, mat bowls and indoor curling with finals on September 29 at the Matford Centre, Exeter.

There will be tasters of other activities such as golf, archery, Eastern and Zumba dancing on the day.

All these activities are reminders that health and fun filled activities can be part and parcel of our lives whatever our age.

It is hoped that the Tavistock area will be able to 'man' a dragon boat on September 9, crewed by ten adults (two can be non-paddlers!) and ten younger people aged 14 to 19. Teams should, where possible, consist of equal numbers of males and females. However, this can happen only if there are sufficient people keen to give it a go.
