CHAGFORD enjoyed a hugely successful arts festival last weekend with a diverse range of entertainment, including art, live music and theatre.
Chagford Arts Festival marketing officer Clare Owen said the festival had been ?absolutely brilliant? with many of the events completely selling-out.
The festival was also boosted by a visit on its opening night (Thursday) by a BBC film crew to capture the excitement of the carnival-themed launch of festivities. ?It helped so much and got everyone talking about the event,? Clare said.
Reggae night on Friday with Delroy O?Gilvie and the Bristol-based Justice Crew had been ?really well received?, said Clare.
Other musical highlights during the weekend included a concert by the Bingham String Quartet featuring local clarinetist Victoria Loram plus a performance from the Moor Poets and smaller live music events in each of the town?s pubs.
Clare said as always the local community had got involved in the festival with more than 90 entries in the Chagford ?self-portraits? exhibition.
She said the other exhibitions on display as part of the festival also attracted lots of visitors throughout the weekend.
Chagford Arts Festival is held every two years and organisers promise the event will be back for another fun-packed weekend in 2006.
