WE have just had the bad news that the planning inspector has approved the erection of a turbine at Beckwell Farm, between Kelly and Chillaton. This is despite strong objections from English Heritage, Dartmoor National Park, West Devon Borough Council planning committee and the vast majority of local residents. This turbine will desecrate the ridge above the beautiful Lyd Valley and look directly at Brent Tor just three miles away. We also have another application that has been submitted for a 220 foot turbine also on this ridge but this time directly above Lifton village. This historic village, at which King Athelstan held an early parliament in 931AD, is already dominated by two enormous turbines. I would urge all those people who do not want to see Lifton and Devon despoiled by these inefficient and expensive monstrosities to go onto the WDBC website (application 00336/2015) and register your objection.
