THE Lions Club of Tavistock is starting its search for a young lady to wear the glittering tiara and wave a royal hand at this year's spectacular Tavistock Carnival so now is the chance for three lucky youngsters to win a chance to step up to the vacant throne as the new carnival princess and attendants.
All young ladies who apply, using the adjacent form, must be between the ages of seven and eleven years on July 1, 2013 and live within the PL19 and PL20 postal districts.
The competition is sponsored by Lawsons of Tavistock and the Tavistock Times Gazette and the club is delighted with the continued support from both companies.
The judging will take place at the Tavistock Parish Church Centre in Plymouth Road on May 15 with the official crowning during 'Funday in the Meadows' on Sunday, July 14 at 3pm.
Entries will not be accepted on the night.
The carnival princess and attendants will lead the carnival procession through the streets of Tavistock on Saturday, July 20 so the lucky winners must be available for these dates.
Tavistock's ever-popular carnival week starts on Friday, July 12 with an action-packed week of events for all the family culminating in the procession on Saturday, July 20.
The theme for this year is 'Time', so watch out for the entry form that will be appearing in this paper in early June but now is the 'time' for everybody to get their thinking caps on.
