A WARNING to Tavistock residents: don't try to dispose of 'household' waste (normally collected each fortnight) , as I was, because we were going on holiday for two weeks and it was the wrong week, without following 'the procedure'.
Phone ahead, 0845 155 1010 and book in your bag with it's approximate weight and type of contents, ideally one to one-and-a-half hours before your intended visit to the recycling centre — Crowndale in this instance. They will then email CETA who will contact the site. You then take it to the man , who told you to do it this way , and tell him you have booked it in and he will carry it to the other end of the site and throw it. There you are all sorted.
Yet another classic example of government managing to waste whilst you are being encouraged to cut back and manage your resources and your waste,
By the way you probably cannot get a phone signal down there, 'It's all the tin sheds mate,' so you'll need to go home again to call in. He was right.
