Vivid A League U14s Activate Rangers 2 Tavistock Girls 2 TAVISTOCK started poorly on a muddy pitch. Passing was not at its best and shots were blasted high over goal. Glasspoole and Shaw cleared attacks and brought the ball forward to wingers Turner and Saunders. Activate were quick on the break and Maguire made some diving saves. Rose scored a cracking goal after constant hard work. Eales took over left wing and Gordon chased everything but the final pass to her was lacking. In the last minute of the first half a driving shot was saved by Maguire but the rebound was put away by an unmarked striker. Tavistock started the second half on the back foot and spent ten minutes struggling to get out of their area. Hammond came on to take left wing and Rose and Moody and Hammond began to work the ball up. Saunders broke through only to see her shot saved by the keeper. Rose struck again with a great long shot and Tavistock started to play good football. With seconds to go Activate won a corner and when Rose leapt up to back-head the ball out of the area it deflected straight into the roof of the net. Player of the match: Becks Rose. Leander League U16s Tavistock Girls 12 Saltash Youth 1 TAVISTOCK started well straight from kick off and it was nice to welcome back Kim Davey from a long term injury. Davey, Bassett, Davies and McMullin linked well and it was not long before Nicholson put Tavistock in the lead. Saltash came straight back with a well struck free kick. Tavistock settled and scored another two by half time. The second half saw the girls keep the pressure up and extend their lead. Saltash never gave up battling and Maguire found herself scrambling in the mud to retrieve the ball from the feet of a striker. The girls battled against the rain and keep second spot in the league. Scorers: Ayles, McMullin, Bassett, Nicholson, Davies (2), Payne (2) and Davey (4). Player of the match: Natalie Ward. Tavistock Girls' U12s 3 Kitto Girls' U12s 1 TAVISTOCK began brightly and immediately Case and Longdon showed they were a threat with two good long range efforts from which they were unlucky not to score. However, although it was against the run of play, as Tavistock were in control and passing the ball around nicely, it was Kitto who broke the deadlock. Tavistock responded well and upped their game, playing impressive football. The equaliser came through striker Shannon Ashworth who drilled the ball into the corner of the net. This was followed by a second goal by Case, after superb build up play between Hodge and Leech. The second half saw Tavistock thirsty for more. The third goal came after a strong run down the wing by Case followed by a shot. It struck the post but Hodge nipped in to rattle the ball into the back of the net. Leech had two efforts at goal, one striking the post, and Ashworth had another strike the post. Player of the match: Jolene Piper. Manager's player of the match: Sophie Leech.
