YOU won't need another meal all day — once you've tucked into a hearty English breakfast using quality local ingredients, that is! Besides getting a good feed, patrons will be supporting a good cause in the process. Local food champion Derek Godfrey-Brown will be holding another of his famed 'Proper English Breakfasts' in Okehampton later this month to support the Cavitron Fund. The breakfast on Wednesday, January 24, is being organised with the help of the Rotary Club of Okehampton, long term supporters of this hugely worthwhile charity, which has provided funds to enable pioneering non-invasive procedures to deal with brain tumours to be available at Derriford Hospital. Breakfast will be served at the White Hart Hotel in Okehampton at 8.30am and will be followed by entertainment from Tony Beard, the 'Wag of Widecombe'. Brunches for later risers will be available from 11am and will also be followed by entertainment from Tony Beard. Tickets are £10 and are available from the White Hart, Inkprint in Station Road, Stevens Estate Agents in East Street or by telephoning Mr Godfrey-Brown on 01837 53158. Thanks to the generosity of the event's supporters well over half the ticket price will be donated straight to the Cavitron Fund, whose founder Michael Turner will join diners on the day to answer any questions about their vital work.
