YELVERTON'S summer fete, abandoned six years ago, is to be revived this year.
Organised for the first time by Yelverton Rotary Club, the event will be held at the village memorial ground on Saturday, August 5.
'We are very pleased to be able to take on the role of organising the fete which we hope will, again, become a regular Yelverton summer event,' said Rotary Club member Ross Dent.
'We are delighted with the support and encouragement we have already received from many local people and organisations, particularly from the memorial hall committee and members of the former fete committee.'
The Rotary Club has already arranged a full programme of events, from bands and dancers to sheep shearing displays, to be staged in the fete's arena as well as bouncy castles, kiddies' fairground rides, face-painters and other children's entertainment.
Ross said: 'But we want to make it a real community event with as many local organisations as possible joining in and adding to the fun and entertainment as well as raising valuable funds for their own charities or projects by taking stalls at the fete.'
More information on the availability of these stalls and of a very limited number of trade stands is available from Ross on 01822 855593.
