CELEBRATION of the joys of summer will be the theme of a unique folk music concert to be presented by Robin and Bina Williamson at the Wharf, Tavistock on Saturday, July 29. Described as a rich blend of Indian, Celtic and English traditional styles, the duo?s music incorporates both legendary and spiritual material. Harp, violin, flute and percussion sounds are used to complement the singers? East-West harmonies to produce evocative melodies for the delight of audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Robin Williamson has been at the forefront of the story-telling revival in Europe and America since the 1980s. Earlier, he founded the Incredible String Band which was followed by the Merry Band of the 70s. Robin?s wife Bina has been a performer and recording artist for a number of years. She has toured with Robin as half of the duo and also as a member of the Incredible String Band. Songs and Stories of Summer should provide a unique and enchanting evening which harnesses the essence of previous years in a unique present of their own.
