SOME people send a Valentine's Day message with a single red rose. But Tavistock fish stall owner Alison Renton opened her premises to find it packed — with 70 giant balloons.

'I thought Jeremy Beadle was going to walk around the corner — I couldn't believe it!' she said.

The balloons were the idea of Pannier Market neighbour Bob Vella who, with his assistant Phil, came in early to blow them all up.

'The whole market loves Alison as a good friend,' said Bob who thought it would be a nice gesture.

Before she could start trading the market's Valentine girl first had to get in — and get the balloons out.

'It was lovely — no one has ever done anything like that before. I didn't realise that they all thought so much of me. It was such a surprise,' said Alison.
