Tavistock 2
Totnes 2
TAVISTOCK ladies? hockey team attacked from the start. They were quick to pick up key players and Nell Trotter and Fiona Dunn marked the opposition?s forward line out of the game.
Becky Hutton was quick to hit rebound balls back at the keeper and it was through one of these that she scored the first goal of the match.
The midfield play of Tavistock was strong and Lisa Butler had a good game by picking up players and making strong interceptions.
A break for Totnes put keeper Rebecca Creasy in a one-on-one situation with a determined striker. Creasy kept her cool and cleared the ball straight from the opponent?s stick.
A foot foul in the D resulted in Totnes being awarded a short corner, which they scored from, making the score 1-1. Tavistock held their game and Steph Mills retained possession through driving around the opponent but also had the knowledge of when to release the ball to the running play of Bowden and Armstrong.
Thorne, Boulle and Mills kept the defence under pressure and again Hutton was determined to sink the ball into the back of the net, which she did successfully.
Tavistock had more of the attacking play and Cork had some good runs down the pitch with Hutton and Bowden backing up. Thorne and Boulle had an excellent game as they distributed the ball to allow Tavistock to make stronger attacks.
A loose ball through the middle allowed Totnes to equalise.
Captain Fiona Dunn was delighted in the result as it means Tavistock have been promoted into division 1 of the Trelawney League.
This week Tavistock play a friendly at home to Marjons 2 at 12.30pm.
Player of the match: Becky Hutton.
Salcombe 1
Tavistock Ladies 2nd XI 0
TAVISTOCK started quickly and had the majority of possession.
The home team used their advantage of being used to play on grass, and on one of the few occasions they broke through, a quick shot put them 1-0 ahead.
Tavistock remained strong with brilliant tackles from Nell Trotter at the back which gave Salcombe few attempts on goal but Tavistock just could not equalise.
Tavistock Ladies 2nd XI are always looking for new players especially now the season has ended, anybody interested is extremely welcome for next season, beginning in September. Contact Jo Solman 01822 614461 for more information.
