MAY I through the Times, take the opportunity to thank all those local people, and visitors to the town, who so generously supported the Emily Jordan Foundation, over the bank holiday weekend.

I am recovering from a reconstruction of a knee ligament and as part of my rehabilitation I 'cycled' on a static bike from Bedford Square to Lands End and back to the Square. I averaged 11 miles an hour and the completed distance was 181 miles!

The Emily Jordan Foundation supports young people with learning disabilities and I managed to raise £535 for the charity over the three-day period.

I was sponsored by Dartmoor Cycles, to whom I owe a grateful debt for their ongoing encouragement.

Also to Trish Malone and Robin Pike, who suggested and supported the original idea of the static bike ride journey. Well worthwhile and thank you again to everyone.
