CANCER Research UK local committee would like to thank all those caring people who contributed to the 'Coins on the Wall' collection which raised an amazing £217.77. Recent statistics have shown that one in three of us will develop cancer at some time in out lives — a frightening thought, but already, through research leading to better treatments, the overall death rate has fallen by 12% in the last ten years. Two out of three women with breast cancer now survive beyond 20 years, almost all men with testicular cancer are now successfully treated and more than seven out of ten children now survive the disease, But we can't forget that 150,000 people will lose their lives to cancer this year. So please support our Appeals Week, starting July 21, and help beat cancer. Elizabeth Harding
