WEDNESDAY March 29 saw the ladies of Okehampton Golf Club playing in conditions that could not have been more different from the previous week. With the cold frosty weather now a memory, the constant rain has caused the ground to become waterlogged, so with little run on the ball and slow greens it took a while to adjust, but with the competition a Texas Scramble, it was not too much of a problem. The winning team of Kath Mansell, Kay King and Trish Vick had an excellent round of gross 72, net 65.9. In second place by a whisker were Marcia Holwill, Marcia Jones and Lorna McCurrach, also with gross 72, net 66.2. With all the other teams only a couple of shots away this meant it had been a closely fought competition. With the league and county competitions starting this month it looks as though the ladies have come into form at the right time.
