THE renowned generosity of the local area is stretching across continents and benefitting more than 40,000 people. Over the last few months, Devon Aid Korogwe, DAK, has installed more wells in Tanzanian villages ? it would not have been possible without the help of residents, schools and organisations in this area. Fresh water is beyond value to villagers in Tanzania who help to contribute a financial percentage towards the supply of wells and hand pumps. Vivien England, of DAK, said: ?This encourages them to feel ownership so that they show responsibility and think about the sustainability of the project. ?Teachers tell us there is a greater attendance at school because the children are not suffering diarrhoeal diseases as well as the girls not having to spend hours helping the women to fetch and carry water over long distances, often from polluted and crocodile-infested rivers.? ?To help boost our funds, so that we may continue to help more desperate villages, local dairy farmer George Axford has kindly arranged an evening when he invites you to come and dance with the Texans at Tetcott Village Hall on Friday, November 9 at 8pm.?
