THE committee of the new Lamerton Sports and Community Centre held a party recently, to say thankyou to everyone who had contributed to getting the hall up and running.

Although the official opening of the hall took place last year it was felt that a special event should be held for the local community to show the committee's appreciation.

Coz the Clown and a selection of games entertained the children in the afternoon while the evening saw dancing to music provided by Jazzacadabra, a hog roast and fireworks, which were all generously donated.

The committee acknowledged the 'terrific local support' everyone had given and hopefully will continue to give.

Fundraising will continue in earnest and the next event is the harvest auction which is being held in the hall on September 19 at 7.30 and, weather permitting, will be preceded by the soap box cart race which had to be postponed from the afternoon of the fun day party.
