THE eighth round of tennis in the The Plymouth and District League has nearly been completed, although heavy showers prevented the Mens E team from playing this week.

The Tavistock teams are holding their own in the middle of most of their divisions except for the Mens F team which are near the top of division seven.

RESULTS: Division one: Men's A (Lynden Hardisty and Josh Brown, Simon Prout and Phil Ruse) v St Budeaux B (home), won 8-2, 63 points.

Division two: Men's B (Gareth George and Phil Harbottle, Bernard Mowle and Tony Du'Gay) v Looe A (away), won 8-0, 32pts.

Division three: Men's C (Ray Hinton and Ron Skinner, Matt Smith and Owen Drage) v Plymstock A (home), lost 4-6, 30pts.

Division seven: Men's F (John Mulley and Steve Fletcher, John Medland and Max Goodison) v Mannamead D (home), won 6-2, 51pts.

Division one: Ladies A ( Hilary Picton and Amanda Goodison, Alice Anstee and Sue Parsons) v Ivybridge B (away), lost 4-7, 25pts. Two sets went to tie breaks, a valiant effort, not reflected by the score.

Division three: Ladies B (Roma McMahon and Alison West, Josie Gerhold and Olga Rogers) v St Budeaux C (away), won 6-3, 35pts.

The finals of Tavistock Tennis Club's singles, doubles and mixed doubles tournament will take place on Saturday (July 16) at 2pm, followed by a barbeque at 5pm. Tickets £5 each.

Visitors and spectators welcome.
