LOCAL historian Simon Dell returns to the Okehampton and District Local History Society this month to give a talk on Wednesday, February 13 about the Ten Tors Challenge.

Simon, formerly a police officer, is now Crimebeat Co-ordinator for the police, working with young people on crime prevention and community safety. From 7.30pm he will be telling the history of the annual challenge, started in 1960, which takes place each May for young people from the South West to test their endurance, teamwork and navigation skills.

Meetings of the society are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Ockment Centre.
