A TAVISTOCK-based development group this week appointed its youngest ever member to its co-ordinating committee. Teenager Lizzie Blowey from Tavistock has been recruited to help the Tavistock and villages Development Forum (TaVi) find and assess youth projects. She is a member of the board of directors for the Youth Café in Tavistock and has been involved in many youth initiatives in the town. TaVi is about to become a company limited by guarantee, with a board of directors. Lizzie, 17, said: ?I am delighted to join TaVi at this important stage in the organisation and I am sure I will be able to bring my experience of youth projects and a young person?s viewpoint to the meetings,? Christopher Kirwin, the TaVi chairman, said: ?We are extremely pleased to have Lizzie on board. We want as many sections of society as possible to be represented on our committee and on the board of directors when we become a company, and Lizzie will be a valuable member of the team.? Meanwhile TaVi is looking for more projects to support in and around Tavistock. This year it has supported the Tavistock Food Festival, Drake?s Dartmoor, a youth to youth project in Bere Alston and Tavistock Chamber?s floral displays. Anyone who has a project or an idea for one should look at the organisation?s website http://www.tavi.org.uk">www.tavi.org.uk for guidance and an application form. The organisation is also keen to recruit more members to its committee, particularly people with experience of social or economic issues.
