A TEAM of students from Okehampton College has won a prize at a big sand sculpting competition held on Exmouth Beach last Sunday.
The students, who are all in Year 10, won the prize for the best team spirit. They were the only team in the competition made up entirely of young people.
Natalie Allain, Nick Cashmore, Josh Grant, Tom Powell, Keeley Smith and Amy Wilson created a racing car, which judges picked out as being 'different from the rest'.
It took the team four hours to build the sculpture, which included a useable seat, exhaust fumes and go-faster stripes!
The judges also paid tribute to them for making their way to Exmouth by train from Okehampton — though they missed the train back due to the prize-giving ceremony.
The students are now anticipating their prize cheque should arrive any day — with the princely sum of just over £4.16 each.
