MAD hatters everywhere are invited to grab their teacups and attend a tea party at a West Devon National Trust location later this month.

Lydford Gorge will be hosting an 'Alice in Wonderland' themed event for all the family, with various activities from face painting to cookie decorating and from croquet to fan making to take part in. There will also be a competition for designing the best hat, trails around the orchard and a chance to create a wooden badge to take away.

The trust's visitor services manager for Dartmoor, Catherine Maddern, said: 'There will be something for everyone at this fantastic event, so bring a picnic, enjoy a great day and perhaps go and explore the beautiful gorge itself while you are here. You'll want to come back again and again.'

The tea party will run from noon to 3pm on June 27. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and visitors are advised to bring suitable footwear if intending to walk in the gorge itself.
