North Tawton . . . . . . . . 1
Westexe . . . . . . . . . . . . .0
THIS was a top of the league clash with Westexe one point clear at the begining of the game.
Tawton started as they meant to go on with a great thru ball from Ian King to young Ashley Arscot, who had the shot saved by the keeper.
Edward Hillier,Robert Board and Lloyd Reynolds took control of the midfield early on with their aggressive tackling, making it hard for the visitors to keep possession.
A wicked teasing cross from the right by E Hillier was met by A Arscott to perfection to see his header pound the vistors? net, 1-0 after 20 mins.
Unfortunately this earnt Ashley a cracking black eye for his troubles.
With the midfield still being dominant, Lloyd Reynolds saw a lovely 25 yard curler brush the wrong side of the post while the keeper looked on.
Just before half time Arscott missed a great opportunity to make it a brace when he found himself clear of Westexe?s defence.
The second half saw Dean Rice have two great chances with a spin and shot being the best of them , but the away keeper was making save after save.
Towards the end R Keast saw a powerful strike ping back off the foot of the mouth to keep Tawts out again.
Westexe seemed very frustrated with the Tawton defence of A Rice, D Trick, S Ward and T Williams who didn?t give their forwards a sniff from some very solid defensive play. Man of the Match: Stephen Ward.
Saturday: away to Tedburn St Mary 2.30. Sunday away to Oke 1st in the Okehampton Cup.
