Jackson Vending Devon & Exeter Senior 1

North Tawton 2

Wellington Town 2

THIS game gave North Tawton the chance to stop one of the teams in the chasing pack closing the gap.

North Tawton had many chances to bury the visitors but did not show composure in front of goal.

Goals from Edward Hillierand and Keith Steward kept North Tawton ahead for most of the game with Wellington scoring the equaliser in the last minute.

Wellington Town 2

North Tawton 2

IT was a week in which North Tawton dropped four important points.

The long journey did not seem to effect the Tawton side who dominated for long periods. Ashley Arscott opened the scoring with a well-taken goal after breaking clear of the Welliington defence with great pace.

The home side replied from a well-struck volley.

Timmy Williams was injured during the first half as the tackles starting getting fierce.

The second half continued to be a battle, with North Tawton again causing the home side problems, Edward Hillier seeing a good drive fly over the wrong side of the bar.

Dean Rice sent in a wonderful corner, which was met by Keith

Steward who rose well and powered the ball into the top corner with a fantastic header.

Five minutes from time, appeals for offside were ignored by the referee and a Wellington forward lobbed the ball into the Tawton net.

Man of the Match: Edward Hillier.

Holman Cup semi-final

North Tawton 2

Hartland 1

THE effect of playing three games within a week showed in the first 15 minutes with North Tawton looking disorganised. The visiting side took advantage and a goal looked inevitable. It came in the form of an own goal after 20 minutes.

This was the kick Tawton needed and they showed real character in the following 20 minutes and equalised through good pressure from Keith Steward and Lloyd Reynolds. Dean Rice was on hand to make sure a deflection off the Hartland centre half well and truly hit the back of the net.

The second half saw tireless running by Ashley Arscott and Steward kept Hartland on the back foot. Both men were denied at the last second by good defensive recovering tackles.

The winner came midway through the second half, when good play down the right wing from Tawton, and a good whipped ball into the box was converted by Steward.
