Tavistock AFC U18s 4

AFC Southway U18s 1

TAVISTOCK started much the stronger, after their usual five minute 'bedding in' and attacked the visitor's goal leading to their first goal from Phil Wearing coming from a 20 metre shot and an error from the Southway keeper.

Tavistock continued to press and when they played with width they created numerous chances and eventually Conor Ayres picked up the ball 25 metres out and placed an unstoppable shot in the top corner to make it 2-0.

Defensive frailties continued however, and Southway grabbed a well taken goal when Tavistock failed to challenge and clear on the edge of their area.

However Southway were unable to take full advantage and Tavistock continued to force the game.

The third goal for Tavistock came after Jordan Davidson picked up the ball on halfway, sprayed it out to Alex Maye on the right wing, continued his run to the far post and met Mayne's excellent cross with a header which beat the opposing keeper on his near post.  The first half finished with Tavistock on the attack but unable to extend their lead.

After a good half the injured Ayres was replaced which allowed Jake Case on at right back — however his game was short lived as he was sent off by the referee for dissent.

This put undue pressure on Tavistock and only hard work and commitment kept the opposition out.  The referee then sent off a Southway player for two bookable offences which ultimately handed the game to Tavistock.

Tavistock continued to attack at will and had the final ball been played to players in space and not aimed at goal the score would have been much higher.  However one accurate cross landed at the feet of Josh Robins who dispatched it with aplomb into the far corner to make the score 4-1.
