TAVISTOCK went to Brixham on Sunday to join 18 other club teams from around Devon to compete in the annual rugby festival.

Tavistock were drawn in a difficult group with Sidmouth and Newton Abbot. Tavistock won both of these games to top their group and progress - despite losing Dan Dawes early in the second game.

In the next stage of the competition Tavistock played Brixham and thanks to hard tackling and committment to win by seven tries to nil. Next up was Exeter Chiefs which Tavistock eventually won by a two try margin.

In the final they played Kingsbridge, who are unbeaten in Devon and national competition for the last three seasons.

The first half was close with just one try to Kingsbridge but as the game progressed the South Devon increased the pressure to score three quick tries to win the competition.

Despite the loss in the final the Tavistock team of Danny Goldstone, Calum Ross, Aaron Dobie, Nick Bennett, Dan Dawes, Callum McKellar, Peter Miller, Charlie Wood, Glen Fuller, David Milligan and Taylor Kingham proudly collected their runners up medals to cap a great day's rugby.
