Devon Cup
quarter-final
Filleigh CC U13s v Tavistock CC U13s
AS Tavistock were crowned Under 13 Palladium League champions during the week, the top two teams in every regional league were entered into the Devon cup.
Tavistock made the long journey to Barnstaple with the disadvantage of losing players before the match due to injury.
Tavistock lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp wicket. Mikey Cousens and Rhys Davies opened for Tavistock and started well before Cousens was caught for 16.
Davies battled well in testing conditions and kept the scoreboard ticking over before finally being bowled for 29. Will Smith hit a quick-fire 14 as Tavistock were all out for 109.
Tavistock's bowlers did a great job of keeping Filleigh at bay with Jonty Newton, Rhys Davies and Will Smith all bowling well before the rain interrupted play.
Both managers decided that the pitch was unplayable, and that a bowl-out would take place. Each team had nine players to bowl and Filleigh got the upper hand, taking the first wicket, before Rhys Davies levelled the scores. Ryan Passmore took a wicket, leaving the home side needing to hit with their last bowl, which they missed.
Tavistock now face Axminster in the semi-finals.
