TSB’s partners and customers in Tavistock have raised around £600 for the branch’s local charity partner, The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund.

The Tavistock branch’s most recent fundraising activity was a Christmas bake sale and jumper day, which raised £50 for the children’s charity based at Derriford Hospital.

Three other TSB banks in the Tavistock and Plymouth area are also fundraising for The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund, reaching a current total of around £1,500.

Like TSB, The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund is passionate about helping the local community in Tavistock and Plymouth to thrive. The funds raised will be used to improve the facilities on the children’s wards at Derriford Hospital, including creating a sensory room and making the wards feel more like home.

Christine Dainty, branch manager at TSB Tavistock, said: ‘The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund is a vital part of our local community and we’re really proud to have them as our local charity partner.

‘Our team in Tavistock has worked hard putting in a lot of time and dedication to make the Christmas-themed day a success.

‘We have really enjoyed wearing our Christmas jumpers and baking our Christmas treats and it is fantastic to know the difference that our efforts will make.’

Sue Rodgers, play service team leader and fundraising co-ordinator for The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund, said: ‘The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund wants to thank TSB local branches for supporting our charity to help raise money to raise smiles for children that come to Derriford Hospital for treatment and appointments.

‘As a charity we support all the children’s wards, children’s outpatients, children’s theatres and the children’s high dependency unit as well as some of our patients in the community.

‘All funds raised are used to benefit the patients so every penny counts and can make a difference.

‘At present, we are raising money to update the cubicles to create a more friendly and relaxing space.

‘Our long-term patients use these whenever they come into hospital and by creating a welcoming room it helps with their ability to cope with the treatment they are having.

‘Funds raised by TSB and their customers will help us to provide these new facilities.’

TSB said its sole focus was to serve local people and businesses which, in turn, helps fuel local economies across Britain.

Instead of having a centrally chosen charity of the year, partners working at TSB are empowered to support a local cause that shares the bank’s passion for helping local communities to thrive.
