THE second round  in the Plymouth and District Tennis League has been completed by Tavistock Tennis Club. Some of the teams are coming up against stiff opposition but they are all playing to a high standard, win or lose.

Results: Division one: Men's A (Linden Hardisty and Simon Prout, Phil Ruse and Josh Brown) v Devonshire A. (home), won 8-0, points 15.

Division two: Men's B (Tony Du'Gay and Max Goodison, Phil Harbottle and Gareth George) v Devonshire B (home), draw 4-4, pts 6.

Division three: Men's C (Ray Hinton and Bernard Mowle, Matt Smith and Ron Skinner) v Ivybridge B (away), lost 4-5, pts 10. Men's D (Paul Newton and Jeremy Hyde, Charles Snow and Bill Sparks) v Plympton A (away), lost 4-7, pts 12.

Division six: Men's E (Peter Bradley and John Stewart, Mike Baker and Alex Samborne) v Devonshire C (home), won 8-0, pts 11.

Division seven: Men's F (John Medland and David Martin, John Mulley and Peter Rodgers) v Hill Lane C (home), won 8-2, points 15.

In the Men's C team, By sheer grit and determination, Bernard and Ray came from behind to eventually win their sets.

Ladies A (Sarah Lucas and Natasha McNair-Scott, Hilary Picton and Amanda Goodison) v Devonshire (away), lost 0-8, pts 6. The team managed three/four in each set so the play was not as one sided as the score indicates. 

Ladies B (Alice Anstee and Julia McClenaghan, Alison West and Roma McMahon) v Plymstock (away), won 8-2, pts 12.

Ladies C ( Liz Webb and Kathy Byrne, Wendy George and Lucy Bozward) v Yelverton C (away), lost 2-6, pts 9.

The club draw for Wimbledon tickets will take place on Saturday afternoon, May 21 after the American Tournament and before the barbecue.
