RESULTS September 29: Conservative A 1 West Devon A 4; West Devon C 1 Conservative B 4.

TAVISTOCK Conservative A were left stunned as West Devon A arrived and inflicted on them their first defeat in over a season and a half, and their first league home defeat ever. West Devon's K Rich made short work of out of sorts Evans, backed up by a tough re-spotted black win for Heathman over Babb. Conservative's Folley took Hurford to the colours but a couple of missed regulation pots gave a grateful Hurford all the rope they needed to hang Folley to make it 3 for West Devon. Carruthers saved the blushes for the Conservatives with a steady win over Hawke, and with Emptage for West Devon making the most of some loose play by Longdon, made it a well deserved 4 for West Devon.

Conservative B fresh from their summer transfer spree made hard work of three-man West Devon C new boys. West Devon's Shrimpton and P Rich saw the team off a flyer with a couple of tough frames but both kept their cool to put their team two up. Conservative responded with an equally tough encounter for Lillicrap who had to pull out all the stops to overcome West Devon's skipper Pennington to make it 3-2 for the Conservatives.
