Tavistock Ladies Seconds 3 Plymouth Marjons Fourths 3 IN a high tempo first half Tavistock found themselves two goals behind as a skilful Plymouth Marjons looked set to dominate this local derby. Tavistock, however, are not short of team spirit and gutsy determination. Up front the combination of the Eadie sisters (Kate and Olivia) and Sue Gorman, supported by some accelerating running from Flo Huntington-Whiteley always looked dangerous. Half way through the first half Kate spun on a through ball from Ratty Stanyer, swerved past two Plymouth players before driving the ball into the D for Sue to smash past the keeper. Good persistence from Elly Evans provided the catalyst for the second goal as Kate struck home. In the last move of the half Tavistock swept forward and in the ensuing goal mouth scramble Kate squeezed in her second goal. The second half was dominated by two factors. Firstly, the weather as gale force winds and lashing rain moved in. Secondly, Plymouth Marjons applied considerable pressure. Displaying superb eye-feet coordination Lizzy Tilley was excellent in goal. Jenny Pollock later dropped back into a holding defensive position, alongside Terry Easton and Els Mills-Hick. This enabled Bridget Passmore to push further up field and Tavistock came close to extending their lead on several occasions. In the end, however, the skill and pressure from Plymouth paid off and despite valiant goalkeeping from Lizzy, Plymouth equalised. This, however, was an excellent result for Tavistock. Tavistock: Lizzy Tilley, Bridget Passmore, Terry Easton, Els Mill-Hicks, Ratty Stanyer, Kate Eadie, Jenny Pollock, Flo Huntington-Whiteley, Sue Gorman, Olivia Eadie, Elly Evans. l The ladies next match is away at Salcombe.
