DARTMOOR Search and Rescue Team (DSRT) Tavistock were called to help search for a 16-year-old girl, who hadn’t been in contact with her family while on a walking expedition on the moor.
On November 30 DSRT Tavistock were called by police just before 7.30pm to assist in the search for the girl who had been walking on the moor for several days.
As DSRT Tavistock and DSRT Ashburton were already at Two Bridges for a joint training exercise, members of both teams were deployed to search north along the girl’s proposed route in very cold and misty weather.
After a member of the public reported a possible sighting of the girl near Prewley, several members were relocated with vehicles to that area and she was found, asleep and snug in her tent just before midnight.
It was a happy outcome for the search teams, despite a later finish than the proposed training exercise.
