TAVISTOCK Rotary’s annual Christmas charity draw has been won by local resident Bill Heggs — who then announced that he was to donate the prize to Tavistock Foodbank.

The prize of £250 Morrison’s vouchers was presented to Mr Heggs by Tavistock Rotary President Graham Parker. Mr Heggs then, generously, decided to donate the prize to the Tavistock Foodbank at the United Reformed Church.

Mr Parker told the Times: ‘This is a superb gesture.

‘It means that the whole amount raised — every penny — will be going to charity. We are grateful to everyone who entered the draw, as well as everyone who donated to the Rotary charity collections over the Christmas period.

‘Altogether, these raised over £4,500 for charity in just a couple of weeks.’
