Crediton 5 Tavistock 38 TAVISTOCK put together their best performance of the season recording this emphatic victory over Crediton on Saturday. Tavistock applied the early pressure and were rewarded with two penalty goals from Alex Moy which put them into a six point lead. On the rare occasion Crediton got into the Tavistock 22 metre area a lapse in Tavy?s concentration allowed Crediton prop to put hooker Scott Baker in for a score. As the first half drew to its conclusion some good work from the Tavistock backs allowed them to extend their lead. As Tavistock moved the ball down the right wing centre Lawrence Evans combined with Charlie Harvey to put Harvey over for his first league try for the club. Alex Moy added an excellent conversion from wide out to put Tavistock 13 ? 5 up at the break. The second half started with Crediton on the attack and they pinned the visitors deep in their own territory for the first ten minutes of the half. Only some excellent defence kept Crediton at bay. Then from deep in their own half skipper Jake Phillips started a break out which culminated with Duncan Law scoring in a sweeping 80 metre move. Alex Moy added a second penalty goal which saw Tavistock get away from their hosts. As the second half wore on Tavistock put Crediton under intense pressure and were rewarded with a drop goal from fly half Josh Sutton. Backs and forwards combined well for the next score moving the ball first one way then another allowing Sutton to dummy his opposite number and stroll in for an easy try which he converted. At the final whistle prop Rob Monk scored a try which Sutton again converted. l This weekend sees Tavistock entertain Falmouth in the Cornwall and Devon league, kick off 3pm.
