TAVISTOCK Musical Theatre Company are proud to present The Wizard of Oz at The Wharf next week (Tuesday, October 31 to Saturday, November 4).

Brought to you by this long-established company of sixty-two years, this is a show of feel-good fun and frolics, suitable for adults and children alike.

Director Julian Bennett, musical director Rosemary Fox and choreographer Patti Stott, who were responsible for the company’s NODA award-winning Pirates of Penzance in 2015, have once again collaborated to bring this iconic musical to Tavistock in all its traditional glory with a veritable ‘tornado’ of colour and a few ‘twisters’ along the way.

Familiar faces such as Peter Clement (Lion), Mal Rowe (Tin Man), Rob Tolley (Scarecrow), Tim Farmer (Guard) will grace the stage along with other long-standing company members — Tresca Pascoe (Wicked Witch), Chris Pascoe (Wizard) and Karen Batson (Glinda) plus many other adult members.

The company is supported in this production by 25 extremely talented youngsters, ranging in age from seven to 15, including Issey Persse and Charlotte Penrith, who share the role of Dorothy.

Showcasing the role of Kansas Toto is Miss Millie, Julian’s beloved pooch and Munchkin Toto is played by Olivia de Wolf, who has based her character on her new pet puppy!

TMTC have been rehearsing hard for a number of months to bring you wonderful renditions of all the familiar songs from the show, as well as a variety of movement, dance and ballet. The vibrant scenery design is the work of local artist, Lydia Dockray.

So close your eyes, tap your heels together three times and come on down to The Wharf for this fantastic, not-to-be-missed show. Picture by James Bird.
