A SERVICE to mark Christian Aid Week will be held at Tavistock Methodist Church this Sunday.
The theme will be ‘We’ve been there for refugees since 1945’, reflecting the origins of national charity Christian Aid in churches’ concern for refugees in Europe following the Second World War.
The service, arranged by Tavistock Area Christians Together (TACT) will last from 6pm to 7pm and includes music, prayer and opportunities for quiet reflection on the stories of refugees today.
‘It’s an opportunity for local people, whether churchgoers or not, to endorse Christian Aid’s call — ‘Let’s act again now, to help relieve suffering and build a world where everyone has a safe place to call home’.
There will be a street collection for Christian Aid in Tavistock town centre tomorrow (Friday) and a fundraising event later in the summer.
