TAVISTOCK were back on winning form on Saturday after a slow start to the season. The first goal came quickly for the home side from an excellent ball driven into the D by Becky Lamb for Laura Armstrong to tap in the goal. The celebrations were short lived as the opposition responded quickly to level the score.
Tavistock came back hard and Becca Martin and Emma White battled well in the mid-field to retain possession. Emma drove the ball into the D and struck to put Tavistock back in the lead.
Plym Valley tried to put Tavistock under pressure however strong defensive play by Ellie Evans, Laura Stapleton and Fiona Dunn ensured they were not able to take any strikes at goal. A quick 16 yard hit out by Fiona caught the opposition unaware and Tavistock scored from a quick ball played to Sarah McClumpha who took a powerful reversed stick hit at goal.
After half time Tavistock attacked straight from the whistle. Jo Gaspar and Claire Mason up front worked hard and linked well to put pressure on the opposition.
Sarah Barratt scored an excellent goal for Tavistock taking the ball around numerous players before flicking a reverse stick past the goalie.
Plym Valley came back strongly and Zoe Viggers saved several strikes at goal however eventually they scored their second goal.
Laura Armstrong then scored the next two goals for Tavistock from short corners. Plym Valley also scored a late goal from a short corner.
