Tavistock Community Primary School continued their superb form in the final races of the Primary Schools cross country tournament at Princetown School on Tuesday, by winning the large school's competition.
The Tavistock team earned the best score out of all 15 schools participating; 55 points ahead of St Peter's, whose consistent performances earned them second place in the large school's group. The small school's tournament was won by Meavy, with Milton Abbot in second place.
Tavistock had particular strength in the girl's team, where Jessica Kent-Woolsey won all three races to claim the gold medal for the girl's and Natalia Ridgeway's won her the silver medal. George Bumford won the bronze medal for the boys.
Head of PE at Tavistock, Simon Beatty said: 'The whole squad has trained really hard this year. We knew it was going to be tough to win the trophy again and we are grateful to the College for the use we could make of the track. We were also really lucky that we could benefit from some great training and help from Fiona Arundel and Adam Holland, who took the squad out every week.'
