MORE than £2,500 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support thanks to a four ball better ball Stableford competition held at Tavistock Golf Club.

152 golfers took part in the charity event organised by Richard Potts, and supported by club professional Dominic Rehaag.

The event was won by Chris Gawman and Shaun Getson with 45 points and there was great excitement for club president Dennis Greening, who scored a 'hole in one' on the seventh hole.

At the prize giving Judith Jolly, the fundraising manager of Macmillan Cancer Support, told members of the role of the charity and the help it needs to ensure the continued development of Macmillan and the services they offer, which include the Mustard Tree cancer unit at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

There was a raffle and auction donated by many Tavistock local businesses.

Richard Potts said; 'I would like to thank Tavistock Golf Club for allowing me to hold the event and all the people who assisted me with the day.'
