THE annual mixed open attracted a large field at Tavistock Golf Club with the winners, Nigel Cooper and Yvonne Dance from Stover, scoring an excellent 50 points.  Second handicap pair were Tony and Deidre Mackness from East Devon with 44 on countback from Tavistock's Rick and Joy Harrison. 

The best visitor team with 44 were Cresswell and Muriel Waldron (East Devon) and the best Tavistock team of Richard Wraith and Gail Reed also with 44; front nine, Derek Ellis and Ann Court (Tavistock) 24pts; back nine, Rod and Maggie Hillman (Tavi-stock), 26pts; nearest the pin, George Gawman (Tavistock); ladies' nearest the pin, Bridget Luckham (Tavistock); longest drive, Graham Ruth (Tavistock); ladies longest drive, Wendy de Godfrey (St Pierre); winners of the Betty Young trophy for the best Tavistock pair were Rick and Joy Harrison.

In the Whitsun bowl Rod Hillman in division one scored a nett 69 on countback from Pete Stankevitch, third was Nick Mier 72 on countback from George Gawman.  First in division two Adrian Beer nett 69 ,second David Stratton 70 and third Vic Wilton 71.  Winner of the Whitsun Bowl was Rod Hillman.      

Winners of the qualifying round of the Express and Echo Foursomes with 40pts were Patty Congo and Sue Coles; runners-up with 35 pts were Veronika Haydon-Foster and Liz Lyndon.  Patty and Sue will represent the club in the final at Honiton.

Alan Gawman and Kerry Baker won the Dartmoor Foursomes with a superb score of 79pts.  Mike and Sue Coles were fourth with 73 and fifth Pete Stankevitch and Ian Stapleton with 72. 

Max Clarke and Bridie Sampson completed Tavistock's winning weekend by taking the best mixed prize with 71pts.
