Team Bath 2
Tavistock Ladies' first 3
THE game opened with Tavistock fighting for possession of the ball immediately and looking to dominate the game from the start.
An early ball was slipped through the defence of Tavistock and this allowed Bath to score the opening goal.
Sarah Barratt worked hard in midfield with Laura Armstrong for the visitors and it was not too long before the ball was moving back up the pitch for the Tavistock players to shoot at the Bath keeper.
An excellent ball to Becky Lamb saw her put the ball away for the equaliser. Robynne Honey and Nikki Woodroffe were also fighting for shots on goal and although numerous short corners were awarded to Tavistock, the team could not seem to capitalise on their advantage.
Laura Stapleton held firm in the centre midfield for Tavistock and with Lisa Butler working hard as centre defence it was getting extremely hard for the opposition to break through and at half-time it was 1-1.
Jo Gaspar had a superb game in midfield and worked well with Nell Trotter in defence and Honey up on the wing. Although the defence were playing better than they had in the first half there were still gaps and it was through one of these that Bath scored their second goal.
Tavistock fought back and Barratt had a lovely run through the centre of the pitch to neatly put the ball past the keeper.
With only ten minutes left Tavistock were definitely the dominant team and a lovely ball from Honey through to Lamb allowed Lamb to score her second goal for a 3-2 victory.
