TAVISTOCK Girls took part in a 10s rugby tournament at Exeter Saracens on Sunday. Tavistock U17 Girls 22 Plymouth Albion U17 Girls 5 THIS first match started off with a quick breakaway try from Albion but the Tavistock girls had control of the match by half time. This was thanks to some good attacking runs by Robynne Honey, who scored three tries and a conversion, Hannah Kemish, and Jenny Young who scored Tavistock's other try. The pack of Mel Buzacky, Paige McGechie, Kirsty McCall, Ellyn Megicks and Alice Warnett, with Alice Conn coming on to replace Ellyn in the second half, completely dominated the scrums and picked up most of the loose balls. Captain Sarah Daymond and flyhalf Kat Hair kept the back line solid and made unrelenting tackles on any Albion breaks that looked dangerous. The girls ran out worthy winners. Cullompton Vixens U17 10 Tavistock U17 Girls 26 AFTER only a few moments rest, Tavistock took to the field again and soon had Cullompton reeling with great attacking moves. Hannah Kemish, Paige McGechie and Robynne Honey tore the defence apart from very early on. The girls tired a little in the second half to let Cullompton score two tries but there was only one team going to win this game. Exeter Saracens U17 12 Tavistock U17 Girls 7 THIS was a very exciting game played by 20 very tired girls. Exeter went two tries ahead in the first half with very quick breaks that the exhausted Tavistock line could not prevent. In the second half they picked up and took the game back to Exeter, with Robynne Honey scoring near the posts, and adding the conversion to make the score 12 -7 to Exeter. Tavistock threw everything they had left at Exeter but eventually were beaten by the clock. However, the girls played superbly throughout the whole tournament, and have now beaten every team in Devon.
