TAVISTOCK Colleges U15 girls side entered the annual sevens tournement with high hopes of walking away with silverware. With 140 points scored in the group stages and no points conceded they were without doubt favourites.

In the opening game Tavistock galloped to victory with a 60-0 victory over Liskeard. Notable performers where Bronwyn, Flo and Annabel all bagging hat-tricks, but also Kim Upcott for bundling over the try line and Lucy for scoring in her debut in contact rugby.

Against a stronger Bodmin side Bronwyn scored a first half hat-trick, taking the game away from Bodmin who were further punished by Amy Neave and Lily. Tavistock were then run away 35-0 victors over St James'.

In the final against Clyst Vale early in the second half Tavistock went 10-0 down.

The second period saw an improved performance with some more expansive rugby but Clyst Vale triumphed 15-5.

Despite the loss this was an highly successful day from all school involved, showing an improvement in participation and performance in girls' contact rugby across the South West.

Tavistock travelled up to Exeter Saracens for the final league game of the season and on a hot day both teams played some expansive and attractive rugby.

After the first 15 minutes with the scores at 12-10 tries with a a solitary conversion for Annabel being the difference.

The second half was shown to be a physical struggle while Beth for Tavistock preventing two certain tries with her tackling.

The game finished 30-29 in favour of Exeter Saracens.
