THE TAVISTOCK FreeFight Club has started the New Year with a bang by unveiling its plan to host a beginner's introduction to mixed martial arts.
'New Skool 2010' is a 12-week course that will cover the entire Tavistock Freefight syllabus, which was devised by the club's Instructor Ben Neil.
Ben told the Times: 'Where as in most martial arts you have to perfect one element of the art's syllabus before you can move on to the next, what we are hoping to do is cover our entire syllabus in just 12 weeks.
'From first day basics all the way through to the most advanced stuff that we do, we then go back and refine it. I believe this approach will make for a much more exciting and challenging experience for our members.'
Over 12 weeks Tavistock Freefight's participants will learn techniques from martial arts as varied as boxing, muay thai, judo and jiu jitsu and be shown how to utilise them in a practical way for self-defence or competition.
The course begins on Wednesday, January 13 at Tavistock Scout Hall on Pixon Lane. Participants of all levels of fitness and experience are welcome and can call Ben on 07791411819 for more information.
