TAVISTOCK Edge members plan to make shopping experiences a little more fun at the town’s Tesco store this Saturday.
Tavistock Edge, a festival with a ’fringe’ look at the arts, will be taking place this year on Saturday, July 9 and continuing throughout carnival week.
This Saturday, the team will be in Tesco from 9am to 5pm entertaining shoppers and helping to pack bags in a bid to raise funds to support the running of the festival.
Chairperson of Tavistock Edge festival Richard Hamer said: ’Our aim is to bring the arts two everyone and hopefully you will want to join in. The main event will be July 9 during the Lions’ Carnival Week. We will be organising some events before this, so keep a look out for us. There will be something for everyone.
’We are a not for profit group and most of our performers work for free, but we still have costs and need to raise funds.’
’Thank you to Tesco for giving their support to Tavistock Edge. Following a successful series of impromptu and planned arts events last year, Tavistock Edge is moving into its second year of activity. We intend to build on what we did last year with an emphasis on street entertainment and live music.
’Knitting on the Edge have also commenced work and our first major fundraising event for this year will be at Tesco Tavistock. There will be a flash choir and a chance for the public to take pictures of their children with a specially created artwork.’
