SEVERAL organisations in West Devon benefited from thousands of pounds worth of funding thanks to Tavistock’s Coop stores recently.
On Saturday, Coop stores throughout the UK celebrated sharing out £19-million to more than 4,500 different charities and organisations raised by Coop members’ 1% earned from the Coop brand purchases.
In Tavistock, the community hub, which comprises the food stores on Brook Street and Market Street and the Coop Funeralcare (S J Backwell), presented cheques totalling £16,463.08 to three local causes.
The Brentor Commons Association received £5,510.96, which will be used for renovating and restoring Bowden and Liddaton Downs and to help increase access and improve the wildlife habitat.
Kingdon House received £5,638.65 which will be used to help keep the building watertight.
St Eustachius’ Church in Tavistock was presented with £5,313.47 which will be used to support the work of the church in the community.
