TAVISTOCK Athletic Club (TAC) chairman, Martin Exley-Deane recently presented the Lions Club of Tavistock with a cheque for £1,300 towards their carnival charities.
The athletic club has been organising the relays and fun run since the late 1980s as its contribution to Tavistock Carnival Week.
This year there was a record total of 109 teams across the age groups and 78 younger runners who enjoyed the fun run. Martin said: ‘We’re delighted the relays proved such a popular event again and we’ve some new ideas to grow the event further next year.
‘The club is grateful to the Lions for their support of TAC throughout the year and it is a fantastic way for us to support the Lions in their work throughout the Tavistock community. President of the Lions Club, Paul German, said: ‘Once again the relay event proved to be a fun way of raising funds for the carnival charities and we’d like to thank Tavistock AC most sincerely for all their hard work’.
