TAVISTOCK Business Improvement District is on the hunt for a new manager with a flair and passion for promoting the town to its fullest.

BID is looking for someone new to take the town forward into the future after the recent departure of manager Lisa Piper.

Chairman of BID Robin Rich praised the outgoing manager saying that she was a ‘dedicated’ and ‘stalwart figure’ of the partnership which aims to improve local trading in the town.

Lisa had been part of the BID since it was formed in 2011 and became manager in 2013.

Robin said that Lisa had been ‘outstanding’ in her role as BID manager.

‘I want to shout from the rooftops that she has worked tirelessly to implement projects in the town and has given utter commitment to driving the projects forward.

‘She is a Tavistock resident and loves the town and had a real passion for the job which shone through.

‘She has been the face of the BID and the driving force behind where the BID is now she has always been a stalwart figure of BID.’

Some of Lisa’s main accomplishments, said Robin, have been the implementation of the £2 parking charges in Tavistock; working hard to get the town its recent ‘coach friendly’ status; and the growth of Dickensian Evening.

‘Dickensian Evening is a loveable beast,’ said Robin. ‘It is a huge event now that attracts thousands of people and with that it is a lot of hard work, and maintaining that is a difficult job. Dickensian Evening was here before and will be here after but Lisa has helped the event get to where it is now.’

The BID board will be overseeing events and issues while Lisa’s replacement is found but has said that all members will miss Lisa’s professionalism, enthusiasm and her ‘undying commitment’ to get the job done.

Robin added: ‘Lisa will be a hard act to follow but someone will replace her and they will have a different approach and ideas.

‘The town will be a poorer place without her personality and BID will miss her greatly.’

Lisa said: ‘I have been involved with the BID from the beginning and I have been BID manager for five years now and have organised Dickensian for six!

‘I wrote the second business plan and I think my main achievements have been instigating Tavistock in Bloom and achieving gold for the past five years, lobbying for the £2 all day car parking which made such a difference to the businesses of the town, and growing Dickensian into the event it is now. I would like to wish the board every success.’

Robin added that if anyone wished to discuss BID matters that they could contact him on 07584 131060 or email [email protected]
