RUGBY in Tavistock is on a high this week after the town?s first XV pulled off a brilliant

3-23 win against Essex side Campion to put them in the last eight of the Powergen Junior Vase.

But to get to the final at Twickenham Tavistock must first beat hotly-tipped Cornish side Mount?s Bay in another away fixture on February 28.

Tavistock RFC chairman Steve Langdon said: ?It was absolutely brilliant, it?s great for the club and it?s good for the town too. We took up bus loads of supporters and actually outdid the home crowd!?

Steve said Tavistock regarded Mount?s Bay as ?probably the best team in the last eight?.

?Our first reaction was ?Oh, no? but now we?re just looking forward to it ? it?s just a shame we haven?t had one home draw,? he said.

Whatever happens on February 28, Tavistock are currently top of the Devon One league and have their sights set on promotion next season.
